in 1967 CEO Van Vlahakis created Venus Laboratories, inc,. Having graduated with a B.S. in chemistry from Roosevelt University, he drew on his expertise to create with a safe alternative to the toxic chemicals used in the Janitorial industry.
His son, John Vlahakis, graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in communication studies and political science. He went on to Kellogg Graduate School of Management and in 1985 received a Master of Management degree in marketing, transportation and organizational behavior.
Recognizing the need for environmentally safe cleaning products in the retail marketplace John, with support from his father created Earth Friendly Products in 1993.
Today the company produces upwards of 150 products which can be found in major grocery chains as well as Costco and Sams Club.
Van along with the companies chemists continues to provide guidance in formulations of products.
Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, a sister joined the company in 2005 as Vice President of PR.
