Why Should Cleaning Products be Free from 1.4-Dioxane?

Earth friendly Products is dedicated to ensuring that our customers receive 100% natural and safe products. With the recent awareness of the dangers of using 1.4-Dioxane in cleaning products, EFP has worked diligently to carry out its goal of removing the substance from all of its products.

There are several health and environmental concerns with using 1.4-Dioxane in cleaning products. First, the substance is a known eye and respiratory tract irritant. It is also suspected of causing damage to the central nervous system, liver, and kidneys. Most significantly, it is a known carcinogen. 1.4-dioxane also damages the environment by forming contamination plumes in groundwater when released to the environment.

Under California Proposition 65, companies are required to warn consumers on the label if their products contain known carcinogens. In March 2008, the Los Angeles Times came out with a report that several “green” products contained 1.4-Dioxane. Subsequently, in June of 2008, the California Attorney General brought a lawsuit against some of these companies, claiming that they knew for several years that the products contained hazardous levels of 1.4-Dioxane.

EFP has taken steps to guarantee to our customers that all of our products are the cleanest in the industry, and free of 1.4-Dioxane. We hope that our competition will follow our leadership, and the public will get only products that are 1.4-Dioxane free.
